EVER WONDERED WHERE YOUR CLOTHES END UP?

The world's driest desert has become a dumping ground for global fast fashion, and its mountains of discarded clothes are growing even bigger.⁣ ⁣ Photos show mass piles of sweaters, boots and other thrown away clothing in Chile’s Atacama desert, which is increasingly suffering from pollution created by the fashion industry.⁣ ⁣⁣ Around 59,000 tons of clothing arrive every year at Chile’s Iquique port, which is typically made in China or Bangladesh. It then passes through Europe, Asia or the US before making landfall in Chile. From there, the clothing is resold around Latin America. ⁣ ⁣ Despite this, only a fraction of the clothes that end up in Chile are bought locally. At least 39,000 tons of it cannot be sold and ends up in landfills in the surrounding desert area of Iquique port, AFP reports. ⁣ ⁣ Clothing created with synthetic materials or treated with chemicals can take 200 years to biodegrade and is as toxic as discarded tires or plastics. ⁣ ⁣ Back in 2

Please think of everyone else around as well before ruining and wasting anything around you.. Art Credit: Awantha Artigala #savewater #savewildlife #climatechange #ClimateAction #geographytimes

BALLOONS DO NOT GO TO HEAVEN.😢🙏🌍

They land in the ocean and choke sea turtles, kill dolphins and whales, and the ribbons entangle birds.  Many times, they end up on a beach as litter. Even the ones marked "biodegradable" can hurt animals before they have a chance to break down.  Animals far from the ocean, such as horses, have been hurt and killed by balloons (they eat them when they land in their hay or they get spooked and bolt). Some balloons have started fires when they got entangled in power lines.  Sky lanterns have set homes, power lines, trees, and buildings on fire. Sky lanterns can also entangle an animal even if it is marketed as "biodegradable."  There are many safe alternatives to releasing litter into the air, such as planting a tree for your loved one and watching it bloom, or blowing bubbles into the air.  Grief is a painful process.
